26.03.2024

If you're still thinking about which program to choose, we can offer you a new opportunity that is definitely worth considering!

This year we're opening a brand new bachelor's degree in Adaptations to Climate Change. Applications can be submitted starting on the 1st of May! The program is currently only available in the Polish language.

The new program responds to the market demand for consulting, design, and management services related to the preparation, management and implementation of environmental projects, both at the local level as well as at the level of wide-reaching, strategic plans.

Students will learn to combine practical skills, such as modeling the elements of the environment using cutting-edge tools, with very good knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information System) techniques, a solid understanding of environmental science and dedication to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) clearly indicates that the observed climate change is mainly the result of anthropogenic growth of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. Its effects are already evident and have serious consequences for the natural environment, ecosystems and humanity. Since the scope and scale of its influence on humans is even greater than previously estimated, effective adaptation to climate change is key to reducing its negative outcomes. This is particularly important in terms of analyzing risks to people and the economy, ensuring food security, protecting ecosystems and biodiversity, protecting water resources, as well as preventing social conflicts.

Currently, the labor market has a very limited number of professionals with the skills necessary to plan, design and implement solutions to protect the climate and adapt to these changes. According to the “Climate Check 2021: climate and business perspective” study by Deloitte, more than 82% of the 700 business executives surveyed are concerned or very concerned about the effects of climate change.

Likewise, Polish entrepreneurs surveyed in the process of preparing the new program unanimously say that the topic of adaptation to the climate change is a key area of knowledge for new employees. Respondents indicated in detail what competencies are most important to them - they pointed to rainwater management, the assessment of the environmental impact of their projects, spatial analysis and modeling, data acquisition and analysis, and soft competencies in creative thinking, teamwork and project management.

You can gain all of these skills by completing a degree in Adaptations to Climate Change!

The curriculum includes elements of environmental engineering, mining and energy science, socio-economic geography and spatial management. All classes take into account the latest scientific developments, innovations, technologies, industrial processes and practical know-how while also taking into account current legal regulations. The program encourages an innovative and interdisciplinary approach to problem solving and supports students who want to play a part in implementing new technologies and developing strong cooperation between science and business.
